Dua for travelling

Islam sees travel as a good deed if one travels with the right intention. Travel also strengthens our faith in our Creator, but travel always comes with an unexpected side. No matter how much you plan, you never know how the trip will turn out. Islam has come here to protect us. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave us a few supplications on the occasion of every journey.

 Recite. Upon Boarding Any Vehicle

سُـبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّـرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنّا لَهُ مُقْـرِنين وَإِنّا إِلى رَبِّنا لَمُنـقَلِبُون

Subhanal-ladzi sakh-khara lana hadza wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin. Wa innaaa ilaa Rabbinaa lamunqaliboon “

Glory unto Him Who created this transportation, for us, though we were unable to create it on our own. And unto our Lord we shall return.

When Beginning The Journey Recite

اللَّهُمَّ إنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ في سَفَرِنَا هذا البِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ العَمَلِ ما تَرْضَى

اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هذا، وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ في السَّفَرِ

وَالْخَلِيفَةُ في الأهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أَعُوذُ بكَ مِن وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ المَنْظَرِ، وَسُوءِ المُنْقَلَبِ في المَالِ وَالأهْلِ

Allaahumma ‘innaa nas’aluka fee safarinaa haathal-birrawattaqwaa, waminal-‘amalimaa tardhaa, Allaahumma hawwin ‘alaynaa safaranaa haathaa watwi ‘annaa bu’dahu, Allaahumma ‘Antas-saahibu fis-safari, walkhaleefatu fil-‘ahli, Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika min wa’thaa’is-safari, wa ka’aabanl-mandhari, wa soo’il-munqalabi fil-maaliwal’ahli.

O Allah, we ask You on this journey for goodness and purity and works pleasing to You. O Allah, lighten this journey for us and make its distance easy. O Allah, You are our Companion on the road and the One in Whose care we leave our family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the difficulties of the journey, from seeing bad things, from a bad return at home and household, and the dua of the oppressed”.

DUA Entering Any City Or A Populated Place

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهَا

Allahumma Barik lana fiha

“O Allah, You grant us good in it “

Dua Upon Returning Home

آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ

“Ayibun, ta’ibun, ‘abidun, sajidun, lirabbina hamidun”

“We return, repentant, worshipping, prostrating, and praising our Lord.”

الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابْتَلَاكَ بِهِ، وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلًا
