Surah Nasr

Surah Nasr

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismillāhir-Raḥmānir-Raḥīm

Translation: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ

Idhā jā’a naṣrullāhi wal-fatḥu

Translation: When the victory of Allah and the conquest comes,

وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا

Wa ra’ayta n-nāsa yadkhulūna fī dīnillāhi afwājā

Translation: And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes,

فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا

Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wastaghfirhu, innahu kāna tawwābā

Translation: Then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance.

Surah Nasr was revealed in Medina after the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Mecca to Medina. It carries the glad tidings of a significant victory for Islam, which resulted in many people embracing the faith and entering the religion of Allah in great numbers.
